The importance of protecting earth’s largest species is so critically important, whether its a Great White Shark or endangered Giraffe. The latest news from the field in Zambia is that the Thornicroft’s Giraffe is now estimated to number less than 550 individuals left in the wild- there were twice as many just a few years ago. Like giraffes, sharks are facing some scary statistics currently as well. Last year, an estimated 73 million sharks were harvested for the insatiable appetite of shark fin soup lovers. If mankind is not careful we’re going to wake up one day very soon and suddenly realize that the planet has become a very lonely place.
